My name is Rev. Fr Benedict Kenechukwu Onyemechalu, known to many as simply, ‘FadaBen’. I am a Priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, a Multipotentialite, with a penchant for generating innovative ideas and solutions to community issues, through music, sports, arts, and culture.

Born and raised in Suleja as the second child of my parents, I got exposed to music at a very tender age; thanks to the guidance and direction of my parents. I started learning to play the keyboard at age 9, and compose music for liturgical purposes from 2003; some of which are still sung at Masses in Catholic Churches across the country. As a growing musician, I really admired the works of notable Nigerian composers like Prof. Laz Ekwueme, Sir Sam Ojukwu, and Sir Jude Nnam. I also admit to having been greatly influenced by Moses Abdulkass, who I fondly call “the One-Man Orchestra”. Other influences include G.F Handel, Yanni, and Hans Zimmer, among others.

Music production became a lifestyle for me, in addition to being a priest. I started writing and producing my compositions as well as those of other artistes in 2016; scores of singles and an EP. My debut EP, “The Introduction” was released in February 2022. It came on the heels of my official introduction to the world of Gospel Music.

I am the founder and Creative Director at FadaBen Creations, an initiative, which majorly seeks to profile young and gifted/talented people, mentor and equip them to actualize and utilize their God-given gifts and potentials, achieve independence, and become resourceful, thereby, impacting positively on their local community and the larger society. I have a great and vested interest and experience in photography, videography, editing, community building and youth development, tech. and smartphone creative ventures, amongst others. And I am a strong supporter of all that pushes for the growth of the young creative mind, as I believe, that a creative mind is a goal-driven mind. I invite you to keep a tab on me because I’m not resting on my oars any time soon. I am currently writing a second body of work and I hope that God blesses you through the inspired and creative works that I do.
